Hershey Day

Park picks

Open 5–10 PM. Fast and smooth is in; shaky, rattly track is out. Tap a ride to tick it off.

After 6 PM Dark Nights scare zones switch on: behind the Music Box Theatre, outside Laff Trakk, near Tidal Force, The Hollow, and a freight-yard zone on The Boardwalk. Avenue of the Afterlife and Chocolatetown stay calm. The haunted houses aren't in the plan.

Eat

Lunch at the markets and dinner at The Chocolatier at 4:30. Quick bites in the park if anyone's hungry later.

Dinner · 4:30 PM
The Chocolatier
Just outside the front gate · no park ticket needed

The park's flagship sit-down restaurant. Walk-ins welcome, but call about a table: it's a Halloween Friday. Order the chocolate milkshakes.

Amish markets

Lancaster County on a Friday. Pick two; all three only if the morning goes smoothly.

What to buy

Soft pretzels · shoofly pie · whoopie pies · apple butter · jams and chow‑chow · cheese and Lebanon bologna · fudge · birch beer (fizzy, like root beer)

Cash only at many stands, so bring small bills. Please don't photograph Amish people; it's against their beliefs. The car sits at the park for about 5 hours, so keep cheese and meats in a cooler bag.

Drive & pack

About 330 miles in all. One Supercharger stop in Ephrata covers it.
